We are Bill and Jenna Burris.
And we are so pleased to share the adventure of a lifetime that we experienced on the Heart of Ireland Tour with Rick Steves in June of 2018. This trip had been in our hearts for a very long time and it did not fall short of our very high expectations.
Let us tell you a little bit about ourselves:
We have been married 13 years, are residents of Wisconsin and proud parents of 2 wee little people, Ben aged 7 and Jillian who is 4. We love taking family stateside adventures, but have yet to travel internationally with them. Well physically that is, we do have a "flat kiddo" so they can join in for now. You will see them in many of our photos.
Bill is a chemical engineer who loves to garden and roughhouse with the kids, Jenna is a professional counselor who runs and loves to explore.
We are both the kinds of travelers who love to learn, see, do and experience all of the things. Beach vacations are not our jam. So the philosophy and itineraries of Rick Steves fit us nicely.
On June 22-29, 2018 we dove head first into the Heart of Ireland with a Rick Steves Tour. This was our second outstanding trip with the company, our first being a 7 day City trip to Rome. We highly recommend it. However this one was long anticipated. Why?

Jenna's parents were South Side of Chicago Irish Catholics. She has enjoyed exploring her Irish roots and geneology. Coming from a long line of Dunns, Dempseys, Jordans, Reardons and more. All of whom can be traced back to a handful of the 2-3 million Irish who immigrated in hopes of better circumstances during the Irish Potato Famine in the 1840s, where another 1 million Irish starved to death. Jenna's mom had a dream of visiting Ireland that never came to fruition, but has lived on in Jenna's desire to visit the Emerald Isle.
We have also been avid Rick Steves watchers and enthusiasts for years. Watching the show on PBS and eventually purchasing the entire series to watch at our leisure, we long to explore the world, and especially Europe together.
This is long story of how we made our way to the Gaelic world in June of 2018 and are delighted to share more of our experience in hopes that it inspires you to also follow your adventurous spirit and explore one of the most beautiful places on earth.
