The Heart of Ireland Tour in 8 days
A quick glance of our basic itinerary
Itinerary
Friday June 22nd: Tour begins at 3pm at the Old Ground Hotel, Ennis Ireland. Walking tour of Ennis town. Tour of Ennis Friary and group dinner at the Cloisters, next to the Friary.
Saturday June 23rd: 8am tour departure to the Cliffs of Moher. Group free to Roam at the Cliffs of Moher. Return to the bus at 10am or find your own way to Dingle! Take ferry over Shannon river and lunch at John B. Keane with storytelling in Listowel. Bus to Dingle for a night of whiskey sampling, Falconry and Dinner at Milltown House.
Sunday June 24th: 9am departure. Tour of Dingle Crystal and demonstration by master crystal cutter. Then bus tour of the Dingle peninsula led by a local expert including: feed baby lambs, Great Blasket Island Cultural Center and Gallarus oratory. Then a bit of free time before a boat tour of Dingle Harbor and meeting Fungie the dolphin. Free for dinner.
Monday June25th: Goodbye Dingle. Drive through Adare on the way Rock of Cashel. Tour the Rock of Cashel. Drive to Kilkenny for walking tour of medieval Kilkenny. Rest of the evening on our own.
Tuesday June 26th: 9am tour of Kilkenny Castle. Bus ride up to Wicklow mountains and Glendalough. Time to explore lake and picnic. Tour of monastic ruins at Glendalough. Drive to Dublin, check into hotel and group dinner at Eden.
Wednesday June 27th: 9am walking tour of Dublin with local guide including Dublin Castle, Temple Bar, Book of Kells, Free time with option of group stop at National Museum of Ireland. The rest of the afternoon and evening are free to explore.
Thursday June 28th: Bus ride to Bru na Boinne, UNESCO world heritage site for tour. Drive back to Dublin for tour of Glasnevin cemetery. Final Group Dinner.
Friday June 29th: tour over after breakfast....
However....we gave ourselves one extra day to explore. We chose to grab the train to the Harbor village of Howth, a peninsula jutting out into the Irish Sea. We adored this town and highly recommend it.
Saturday June 30th: Head home to America
